With an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, Tuc Dup Hill is just a small hill of Co To mountain chain (An Tuc commune, Tri Ton district),
but in the war against American imperialism, with the victory in the battle of 128 days and nights, Tuc Dup hill has become a legend in the history.

From ancient legend

Residents here have transmitted orally the legend of Co To mountain formation, Tuc Dup Hill. Legend has it that when heaven was dark, An Giang delta was immense so gods in Dai Mountain, Cam Mountain carried each large stone piled up on each other. Piling up until dawn, Co To Mountain was formed. And in a moonlit night, goddesses descended on earth and were seated in a stately way on the top of Co To Mountain. They strolled and joked together with the games of throwing stones, splashing water, etc. which caused stones piled up on each other and formed the hill with the shape like today. Inside the hill is “lò ảng” with serried caves, looking like a giant beehive. The currents of water which joked goddesses became a stream. Since then, it has a stream, a hill situated on the foot of vast Co To Mountain in the majestic range of Seven Mountains.

Through many centuries later, people found to open land reclamation. In drought, heat at here made people to be discouraged because of the lack of drinking water. In sleeping, sound of stream water murmured like resounding to ear and when starting out of sleep, it was time of dawn broke. From murmurs in the dream last night, everyone found water and hill with a stream running through it called as Tuk Chup, in Khmer meaning water flowing during the night, after pronounced as Tuc Dup. Previously, no people came to the hill, but after establishing the village, everyone considered it as a sacred hill, because there was water bestowed by the Heaven, therefore in festivals, monks often offered sacrifices to worship gods, heaven and earth in order to pray for favorable rain, peaceful wind, peaceful country and people with peaceful life.

To historic legend

Composed of thousands of big and small rocks, Tuc Dup as a great beehive with hundreds of interconnected crisscrossing alleyways is favorable for construction of military bases of the revolutionary forces, extremely mysterious for enemies. Inside, Tuc Dup is a place for meeting, eating, containing weapons & ammunition, military medical station ... "Tuc Dup is not only special in difficult terrain but also one of the key points in the "triangle of fire" of the South. Due to the position adjacent to Cambodia, it’s favorable for the focal point of liaison on the path 1C of the Bureau to the Southwest.”- analyzed Pham Hoang Yen (An Giang Museum). Lieutenant General Et-Ca of US must also fear and announced that "Occupy iron triangle Cu Chi but not occupy Seven Mountains, in which an important base of communism is Tuk Chup (Tuc Dup), it is considered as American only standing on one foot, opponents shall push American out of Vietnam without any notice ".

Because of the above-said reasons, the US and the puppet government determined to eliminate Tuc Dup Hill on the map. However, if the US chose Tuc Dup to brag army forces, conversely our army determined to guard the hill because it is the heart of the people. The battle on Tuc Dup Hill lasted 128 days and nights, we killed 2,700 enemies, collected 1,700 guns of all kinds, set on fire 9 armored vehicles, destroyed 3 artillery battlefields, shot down 3 aircrafts, consumed 2 parachute battalions, and collected more military equipment and 3,700 USD, etc. With this victory, Tuc Dup Hill was also called as the hill "2 million USD" - funding by the US military and the Saigon government to level this hill in 1968-1969.

The war passed, Tuc Dup Hill has existed as a relic, a historic witness in order that people can come to visit, review a magnanimous period of the nation in general, the army and people of An Giang in particular. This will be a tourist destination returning to the roots meaningful to young people, because it re-appears the life and the fighting of the revolutionary soldiers in the past. The landmarks which were named in wartime, such as C6 Hall, Tri Ton district party committee cave, cave of population health, An Giang Provincial Party Committee Cave, cave of women ... were reconstructed, adding to the visual part.
